Hermes versus Mercury

I think it is about time to explain why Hermes' Mistress is not Mercury's Mistress. Besides my guess that Hermes is a little older, I choose him for his Greek origin and for his number of relatives who I like. His father and mother Zeus and Maia are sort of irrelevant for me but I like the fact that having an affair with Hermes leaves a couple of questions open. For example it is not really clear unless stated that I have this affair with a simple messenger. It could be also a liaison with Hermes Trismegitos, who is a much more interesting figure than Hermes the traveler. And here Hermes links into pedagogic Eros and this whole story about the science of interpretation of text. I prefer the Hermes, a thousand times more attractive with his hermetic enclosure and his hermeneutic knowledge, the guy that circles you, surrounds you with his letters...
