The adventures take place in our head. Today there was no adventure, just a couple of attempts, basic design work, assorting thoughts, couple of notes landed in my gray February box. Further thoughts about the Glassbeadgame. Assuming all those different identities as artist, I continuously develop further thoughts about presence, presentation and representation in it's ways that it links or touches issues that come close to my skin, maybe fashion, clothing as a mental home? Creating these different ad-dresses I slip into another house/personality/identity, where each passage through my body and dress can represent different ideas. Each material I connect with, teaches me
its own language, tells me it's own story. For example, silk narrates about
transition, metamorphosis or detachment, wool as a grounded material for warmth,
nature, earth, protection, enclosure. Cotton, I associate with blooming and
aging, with ripeness and maturity and vulnerability, linen, with its roots, its
strength and endurance. The more further I move into something that is elegantly
called the "global village" I ask, is the idea of home as a mental fundament such an
antiquated one in the age of high tech? Who will actually live in this "Global
Village" that everybody is talking about?
A Kastalian elite of Glassbeadplayers?
The Glassbeadgame is the overall association of thoughts from different faculties and themes as
they come together. It is maybe a way of playing life, of connecting your
thoughts to the links of others until you come to the overall web. "The whole of life, of
the physical as well as the spiritual, is a dynamic phenomenon, from which the
Glassbeadgame only grasps the aesthetic side, mainly in the image of rhythmic
processes."
