l'adieu - pearls before gods

L'Adieu - Pearls Before Gods, an installation in the Broadway window of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, was part of the show "Trade Routes," curated by Laura Trippi. For 28 days, near Chinatown's infamous sweatshops, Frank sewed pearls onto a white silk gown in the New Museum's street window. Each day I was paid the average wage of a seamstress in a different country. Every morning with my salary I bought flowers and bread - food for the soul and the body - in order to experience the power of purchase and complete the cycle of earning and spending.
